It is easy to get caught up in busy life in and out of college. Paying more attention to the present moment – to your own thoughts and feelings, and to the world around you – can improve your mental well-being. Mindfulness is a great way of doing this.
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.
Mindfulness is a way of paying attention that originated in Eastern meditation practices" "Paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non judgmentally.
How can it help you?
There are many ways mindfulness will help your mental and physical well being, according to the NHS these are all benefits of mindfulness

- Improves well-being and lowers anxiety levels
- Helps concentration
- Helps improve physical health; lowers blood pressure and heart rate
- Increases awareness, attention and focus
- Higher brain function
- Improves experience of feelings of calm and connection
